UNIC’S REACTION TO THE PUBLICATION OF THE ELECTORAL COMMISSION CALENDAR

PRESS RELEASE

MOVEMENT OF THE CONGOLESE UNITY

Washington, Wednesday, November 8, 2017 – UNIC has carefully followed the publication of the electoral calendar, and after analysis, it believes that this electoral calendar did not deny what the Congolese people as a whole feared.
In view of the details stated, it appears that this calendar badly tied up by the office of the presidential majority is enameled of a well orchestrated blur and a disorderly timing unfolding the impression of a process just being engaged. While he is more than 28 months late.
UNIC strongly rejects this electoral calendar with the appearance of a democratic illusion. It is indeed the powder in the eyes but no longer deceives anyone. A diplomatic and media formality for the dictator.
It is absurd to extend the mandate of the five-year-old to prepare for the elections, and to do nothing to nurture democratic vitality in our political space. And despite the 2 free years that were granted to him, Kabila brought up a calendar accompanied by the conditions for its materialization.
It is also unacceptable to go back to Kabila’s logic of considering democracy as a decoration to embellish one’s power.
In a normal state with a pluralistic democracy, the electoral process begins the day after a final electoral cycle. Kabila has had plenty of time to do it. Any wise observer would agree with us that Kabila has no intention of allowing democracy to express itself in our space.
The CENI reiterates the publication of an agenda already published in February 2015, then renewed after the Tshatshi military camp dialogues in October 2016, cemented by the “slip” agreements of December 31, 2016. Mr. Corneil Naanga publishes a calendar that demonstrates that the 504 days announced are incompressible.

A published program means absolutely nothing.

Only its effective application will prove its implementation. Joseph Kabila will never do it. He wants to drag himself to power by humiliating and blocking the fate of a whole nation.
Faced with such an attitude of disregard for the Congolese people and the entire international community, UNIC urges the Congolese friends to lend a hand to the Congolese people in the application of Article 64 which
“imposes the fight against any individual or group of individual that exercises or maintains power by force. “
From the foregoing, UNIC urges all those who have subscribed to the agreements of the city of OAU and those of the CENCO to setback for recovering and not to respond to any new initiatives coming from this corrupted, dying and finishing regime excelling in lies and human rights abuses.
To the Congolese people, the UNIC is launching a vibrant patriotic call to take its destiny into its own hands.
Stand up and say KABILA MUST GO NOW. IMMEDIATELY !!
